SAINT PAUL — The five-member State Canvassing Board, chaired by Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon, today certified the results of the State House District 3A Special Election.
The Office of the Secretary of State reports 7,246 voters cast a ballot in the special election on Tuesday, December 8. The official results show Rob Ecklund (Democratic-Farmer-Labor) winning the election with 4,591 votes. Roger Skraba (Republican) had 1,399 votes and Kelsey Johnson (Independent) had 1,144 votes. There were 109 write-in votes.
The State Canvassing Board members are Secretary Simon; Associate Justice David R. Stras, Minnesota Supreme Court; Associate Justice David L. Lillehaug, Minnesota Supreme Court; Chief District Court Judge Teresa R. Warner, Second Judicial District; and District Court Judge Rosanne Nathanson, Second Judicial District.
The special election was held to fill the vacancy created by the passing of former State Representative David Dill. House District 3A includes all of Cook and Koochiching counties, almost all of Lake County, and northern and eastern portions of St. Louis County.
