Secretary Simon Co-Signs Letter in Opposition to the SAVE Act

March 31, 2025

Secretaries of State from 15 states warn the federal legislation could disenfranchise millions of eligible American citizens

SAINT PAUL - On March 31, 2025, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon and 14 other Secretaries of State sent a letter to U.S. Representative Bryan Steil, Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, expressing deep concerns with the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. Read the letter here.

Secretary Simon issued the following statement regarding the SAVE Act:

“American elections are fundamentally fair, honest, and accessible. The SAVE Act would put that at risk.

In Minnesota, the legislation would eliminate popular conveniences for eligible voters - like online voter registration. More broadly, the SAVE Act would cause chaos and confusion, threatening the freedom to vote for tens of millions of eligible American voters.”
