Secretary Simon Concludes Term as President of the National Association of Secretaries of State

BILOXI, MS – On August 7, 2025, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon concluded his one-year term as the President of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS). Founded in 1904, NASS is the nation's oldest nonpartisan professional organization for public officials. Membership is open to the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and all U.S. Territories.

He will continue to serve on the organization’s executive committee as the Immediate Past President through 2026.

Secretary Simon’s statement on the conclusion of his term as president.

“Serving as President of NASS over the past year has been a great honor and privilege. I’m grateful to my Secretary of State colleagues from across the country for their confidence in me – and for the for the focus and integrity they bring to their jobs. During my term as President, Secretaries faced numerous challenges – and we came together across state lines and political party lines to deliver the American people. For 121 years, NASS has served as a nonpartisan connector. I am deeply proud of the organization and its members for demonstrating how to lead with respect for each other, regardless of ideology or background, and working together to provide the best services for all Americans.”
