State Constellation – Ursa Minor

Ursa Minor became Minnesota’s state constellation in 2025.
Ursa Minor is Minnesota’s state constellation. Ursa Minor is Latin for ‘little bear.’ The constellation is also known as the Little Dipper. Ursa Minor is located in the northern hemisphere and includes Polaris, or the north star, as its brightest star. Polaris has been used for navigation for millennia as its location near the north celestial pole causes all the stars in the sky to appear to rotate around it.
