Student study abroad toolkit

Students studying abroad don’t have to miss out on making their voice heard in the 2024 election.

Voters abroad use a special process to get and return their ballot. For example, they can have an absentee ballot emailed to them wherever they are in the world.

The materials below are for communicating voting instructions to students studying abroad. You are welcome to customize these materials as you see fit.

We encourage students to apply for their ballot before they travel abroad.

Website for information

Citizens abroad voter information

How can students studying abroad apply for an absentee ballot? When can they apply? How and when do they return their ballot? Direct your students to this page to get these questions answered.

This is the application students should fill out, ideally before they travel abroad. It can be completed any time during the calendar year — students do not need to wait till Fall to apply.
